ACADEMY INVITES 842 TO MEMBERSHIP
 
  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2019.
Six individuals (noted by an asterisk) have been invited to join the Academy by multiple branches. These individuals must select one branch upon accepting membership.

FILM EDITOR DODY DORN VOTED TO ACADEMY BOARD OF GOVERNORS IN RUNOFF ELECTION
 
  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that Dody Dorn has won the runoff election for the open Film Editors Branch seat on the 2019–20 Board of Governors. Dorn joins incumbents Carol Littleton and Michael Tronick in representing the branch and will assume her post as of July 1.
THE ACADEMY ELECTS 2019–20 BOARD OF GOVERNORS
 
  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced its newly elected 2019–20 Board of Governors. They will assume their posts July 1.

THE ACADEMY TO HONOR GEENA DAVIS, DAVID LYNCH, WES STUDI AND LINA WERTMÜLLER AT 2019 GOVERNORS AWARDS
 
  The Academy announced today that its Board of Governors voted (Saturday, June 1) to present Honorary Awards to David Lynch, Wes Studi and Lina Wertmüller, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Geena Davis. The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy’s 11th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, October 27, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.
Academy Announces Three New At-Large Governors
 
  The Academy Board of Governors has confirmed the appointment of three new governors-at-large, DeVon Franklin (Executives Branch), Rodrigo García (Directors Branch) and Janet Yang (Producers Branch). They will each serve a three-year term, beginning July 1. This furthers the Academy’s A2020 initiative, which seeks to support inclusion and increase representation within its membership and the greater film community.
