The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosted a private luncheon and viewing of the current exhibition, Hollywood Costume,on Wednesday, October 8, at the Wilshire May Company building—future home of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The luncheon was hosted by Academy Governor Annette Bening, Crystal Lourd, Oscar®-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Elizabeth Wiatt.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received a $7 million gift from Dolby Laboratories to provide cutting-edge audiovisual technology in the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures' movie theaters. Additionally, the Dolby family has made a $5 million gift to the Academy Museum's capital campaign. In recognition of this gift, the Academy will name the Museum's rooftop terrace the Dolby Family Terrace.

This fall the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the final showing of the groundbreaking multimedia exhibition Hollywood Costume in the historic Wilshire May Company building, the future location of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has appointed Kerry Brougher as director of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Brougher brings to the role three decades of curatorial, fundraising, leadership and planning expertise, most recently with the Smithsonian Institution, where he served as interim director and chief curator of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences received separate $10 million gifts from Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. In recognition of these gifts, the two main galleries on the lobby floor of the Academy Museum will be named for Katzenberg and Spielberg – The Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery and The Spielberg Family Gallery.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received a $20 million gift from the Dalian Wanda Group for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The gift was made as part of the Academy Museum's $300 million capital campaign and is the second largest commitment received to date. In recognition of this gift, the Academy will name the Museum's film history gallery The Wanda Gallery.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received three $5 million naming gifts from producer and Academy Governor Gale Anne Hurd; philanthropist and CEO of Onex Gerald Schwartz and his wife Heather Reisman; and the family of the iconic film exhibitor Ted Mann—Victoria Mann Simms (Ted Mann's daughter), her husband Ron Simms and their family. These gifts will help to fund the design and construction of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
