Hollywood Takes to the Air
Oscar®-winning visual effects supervisor Craig Barron and Oscar-winning sound designer Ben Burtt will explore the side-by-side advances in filmmaking technology and aviation at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' four-evening series "Hollywood Takes to the Air" beginning on Thursday, August 14, at 7 p.m. at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood.

Beau and Jeff Bridges
Actors Beau Bridges and Jeff Bridges will share the stage at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' "Beau and Jeff: A Tale of Two Bridges," on Monday, August 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles.

 

Five first-time governors have been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors. In addition, eight incumbents have been reelected and four previous governors are returning to the Board.

Academy Museum
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received a $7 million gift from Dolby Laboratories to provide cutting-edge audiovisual technology in the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures' movie theaters. Additionally, the Dolby family has made a $5 million gift to the Academy Museum's capital campaign. In recognition of this gift, the Academy will name the Museum's rooftop terrace the Dolby Family Terrace.

 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the world premiere of the newly restored 1934 Best Picture winner "It Happened One Night," a digital restoration in 4K by Sony Pictures Entertainment at Colorworks.
