The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the newly elected 2025-2026 Academy Foundation Board members and officers.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF) today announced that the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), the global standard for color management, is joining the ASWF, a home for open source software developers in the motion picture and broader industries.

Producer Lynette Howell Taylor was elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization’s Board of Governors.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 534 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to motion pictures.

The Academy Board of Governors has elected three new governors-at-large: Haifaa al-Mansour (Directors Branch), Effie T. Brown (Producers Branch) and Annie Chang (Production and Technology Branch, Science and Technology Council Chair).  They will each serve a three-year term beginning upon the first meeting of the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that its Board of Governors voted to present Academy Honorary Awards to Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise and Wynn Thomas, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Dolly Parton. The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy’s 16th Governors Awards event on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.
