Academy Celebrates Hollywood Costume With Private Luncheon Hosted By Annette Bening, Crystal Lourd, Gwyneth Paltrow And Elizabeth Wiatt
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosted a private luncheon and viewing of the current exhibition, Hollywood Costume,on Wednesday, October 8, at the Wilshire May Company building—future home of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The luncheon was hosted by Academy Governor Annette Bening, Crystal Lourd, Oscar®-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Elizabeth Wiatt. The event was generously supported by W magazine and Bang & Olufsen. Guests in attendance included:
83 Countries In Competition For 2014 Foreign Language Film Oscar®
A record 83 countries have submitted films for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category for the 87th Academy Awards®. Kosovo, Malta, Mauritania and Panama are first-time entrants.

Reginald Hudlin To Produce Academy's 2014 Governors Awards
Reginald Hudlin will produce the 6th Annual Governors Awards for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced today. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to Harry Belafonte, and Honorary Awards will be presented to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki and Maureen O’Hara, on Saturday, November 8, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (August 26) to present Honorary Awards to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki and Maureen O’Hara, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Harry Belafonte. All four awards will be presented at the Academy’s 6th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday, November 8, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.
21 Scientific And Technical Achievements Under Consideration For 2014 Academy Awards®
The Scientific and Technical Awards Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 21 scientific and technical achievements, 16 distinct investigations, have been selected for further awards consideration.
The list is made public to allow individuals and companies with similar devices or claims of prior art the opportunity to submit achievements for review.
The deadline to submit additional entries is Tuesday, August 26, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
