Join us at the Margaret Herrick Library for our latest Words on Film event, Film Critics Roundtable. Three of America’s foremost film critics, Justin Chang (L.A. Times), Manohla Dargis (New York Times), and Peter Debruge (Variety), discuss the latest trends in film criticism and film culture.  This should be a lively conversation, lifting a curtain on what it takes to be a film critic, and dispelling the myths that exist about the profession.

Justin Chang is a film critic for the Los Angeles Times and for NPR’s “Fresh Air,” and a regular contributor to KPCC’s “Film Week.”  Before joining the Times, he was chief film critic at Variety.

Manohla Dargis has been the co-chief film critic for The New York Times since 2004, and previously was a chief film critic for the L.A. Times and the film editor at the L.A. Weekly.

Peter Debruge is the co-chief film critic for Daily Variety, where he’s worked since 2005.  His work has appeared in such publications as PremiereLifeIndieWire and the Miami Herald
