Released in June of 1984, GHOSTBUSTERS has been rereleased many times in both theaters and on home video. Its enduring popularity also inspired a theatrical sequel in 1989 and an animated TV series from 1986 to 1991. Written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the film combined the classic conventions of Hollywood horror comedies with the ingenuity of contemporary special effects. Aided by memorable performances and an infectious soundtrack, it continues to find new legions of fans with each generation.
