The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences enthusiastically and gratefully acknowledges the enormous contributions to our art form by the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Together, they help create a living history of what and who we are, providing much-needed funding for award-winning feature films, documentaries and short films, film scholarship, filmmaker development, film festivals, and the crucial work of film preservation. Their impact on national and regional filmmaking, as well as on audiences across the nation and the world, is irreplaceable.
The cost of funding these three important entities is very small; the cost of de-funding them would be enormous. They have enriched the motion picture arts and sciences, our culture, and our lives, in ways large and small. They deserve our undiminished support.
The Academy urges the funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting not be cut.
