The Leonard Stanley collection spans the years 1926-1994 (bulk 1939-1974) and encompasses 52 linear feet of more than 500 costume design drawings. The collection documents the work of many of Hollywood’s most prominent costume designers including Adrian, Ray Aghayan, Donald Brooks, Donfeld, Edith Head, Irene, Orry Kelly, Jean Louis, Helen Rose, Walter Plunkett, Irene Sharaff, William Travilla and John Truscott. Some of the contemporary designers include Bob Mackie, Anthea Sylbert and Theadora Van Runkle. Many of the drawings include fabric swatches, notes related to the production of the costumes and approvals from producers and directors. Titles of note include "Camelot" (1967), "Chinatown" (1974), "Gone with the Wind" (1939), "My Fair Lady" (1964), "Sunset Blvd." (1950), "That Hamilton Woman" (1941), "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1969) and "West Side Story" (1961). The collection also contains a number of unidentified drawings by Travis Banton, Howard Greer, Irene and Edward Stevenson.
