Established in 1972 to address the under representation and misrepresentation of women in media, Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization, and a leading distributor of women's films and videotapes in North America. The collection was acquired by the Archive in 2013. The materials comprising this acquisition include prints, videotape masters, and original film elements of dozens of features, documentaries, shorts, and informational films made by and about women.
