Thom Andersen is a filmmaker, film critic, and educator, best known for his experimental documentaries, such as the award-winning feature “Los Angeles Plays Itself” (2003). The Archive has preserved several of Andersen’s early short experimental films, including “Melting” (1965), “Olivia’s Place” (1974), and “-- ------ (A Rock and Roll Movie)“ (1967). The collection first came to the Archive in 1995 and includes 16mm prints, negatives, production elements, outtakes, and audio. The collection is comprised of over 80 items.
