Mike Stoltz is a Los Angeles-based moving image artist whose practice is dictated by process, working directly with the tools of cinema (moving images, sound, special effects, montage, and projection) to reexamine the familiar and the communal. Stoltz's 16mm films and videos have screened internationally at venues such as Toronto International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Exis Festival, New York Film Festival, REDCAT, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival. The Archive’s collection includes several of Stoltz's films, including elements from "Under the Atmosphere" (2014), "Half Human, Half Vapor" (2015), and "In Between" (2010). Since 2017, the Archive has housed 15 items related to Mike Stoltz, including joint elements on deposit with the Alee Peoples Collection, such as “Spotlight on a Brick Wall” (2016).
