Loren Janes, a stunt performer, known for his death-defying work on Hollywood films, such as “Bullitt” (1968) and “The Magnificent Seven” (1960), famously doubled for Steve McQueen during the bulk of his career. Since 2015, the Archive has maintained over 50, 16mm reels of Janes’ home movies, and behind-the-scenes footage he filmed during the making of “Swiss Family Robinson” (1960), “How the West Was Won” (1962), and “The Sand Pebbles”(1966). These reels provide a unique insight into the arduous craft of a Hollywood Stuntman.
