The Academy Events and Exhibitions Collection is comprised of video recordings of more than 1,100 public film programs presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1979 to the present. Since the 1930s, the Academy has hosted tributes to filmmakers, as well as seminars and lectures on such topics as directing, screenwriting, film music, production design, costume design, makeup, visual effects, and more. The Academy also offers year-round public screenings, exhibitions, and special events in Los Angeles and New York, with occasional programs in London, Washington, D.C., and the San Francisco Bay Area. The Academy Events and Exhibition Collection includes video recordings documenting the tributes, seminars, lectures, and screenings from this rich history of programming.
