The 20th Century Fox Movietone Shorts and Documentaries Series Collection came to the archive in two batches: the WRS Laboratory in Pittsburgh in August of 2003, and a private storage facility in Kearny, New Jersey in January of 2011, containing approximately 2,357 cans. Originally collected by 20th Century Fox, this acquisition contains Fox Nature Color and Sonochrome tests, and Fox Movietone series shorts and features (1930-1950s). The Movietone highlights include “Magic Carpet of Movietone,”, “Movietone’s Feminine World,” as well as “Camel Newsreel Theater” and “Movietone School Series."  Of particular note are the 63 rare tinted and/or toned composite prints. Feature films include “Cry of the World” (1932), “The Holy Year MCML” (1950) and “The First World War” (1934). Elements include original camera negatives, dupe negatives, prints, fine grains, and soundtracks.
