Beginning in 2005 Visual Communications, a non-profit dedicated to media produced by and about Asian Pacific Americans, began depositing its expansive collection consisting of documentary film elements and home movies to the Archive. Visual Communications is also known for producing the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. As of 2013, the Academy houses well over 800 items and continues to work to preserve the visual representation of ethnic minority communities.
