ACADEMY INVESTIGATES 13 SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL AREAS
FOR 2022 AWARDS CONSIDERATION

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 13 distinct scientific and technical investigations have been launched for 2022.

David Pierce, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey White have accepted invitations to join the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, bringing the Council’s 2021–2022 membership roster to 25.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces the launch of the Academy Digital Preservation Forum (ADPF), a global online gathering place dedicated to exploring the latest issues surrounding digital preservation of motion pictures.  An initiative of the Academy’s Science and Technology Council, the forum hosts original content and resources and will serve as an ongoing discussion place for stakeholders and practitioners within the field and those interested in learning more.  Visit the forum at academydigitalpreservationfor

The Scientific and Technical Awards Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 21 scientific and technical achievements, 16 distinct investigations, have been selected for further awards consideration.

The list is made public to allow individuals and companies with similar devices or claims of prior art the opportunity to submit achievements for review.

The deadline to submit additional entries is Tuesday, August 26, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
