Congratulations and welcome to the Academy Gold Program! You are about to embark on an unforgettable summer learning the ins and outs of the film industry. Read on for a few things you should know before you get started.
Before the official launch, we invite you to attend An Academy Tribute to Richard Donner on June 7 and a love jones 20th Anniversary Screening and Conversation on June 13.
In keeping with a very Hollywood tradition, each program will feature cast and crew onstage for a great conversation not to be missed. If you are able to join us, please RSVP with your name and the event(s) you plan to attend.
Gold Program Events Page: The Gold Program Events page will be your hub for program events and information. Each event may be saved as a calendar invite for easy mobile access to dates, times, locations and other up-to-date information.
Social Media: A key to your success in the Gold program is networking. In that spirit, we’d like to invite you to our closed Facebook group, Academy Gold Internship Group 2017 and follow our main accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. During orientation we will provide you with tips and guidelines for sharing your experience with your social networks. We are celebrating and sharing your experience this summer through photos and videos online, in the coming days you will also receive a standard release document. Please sign it and return to our team.
Orientation: These two days are jam-packed with panels, tours and social events to kick off Academy Gold. We expect to see you all on June 15 and 16 at the Pickford Center, home to the Academy Archive. We are located at 1313 Vine Street in Hollywood. Parking information is available for your convenience. Don’t drive? Los Angeles offers plenty of alternative transportation options: visit the city’s transit site to learn more. Do not worry about transportation to the tours and events throughout the two-day orientation. All meals are also covered on those days.
Weekly Panels: Every Wednesday at 6:30 pm, Academy Gold will host a panel of artists, professionals and Academy members for a discussion on a particular facet of the industry. Attendance is mandatory. The events will give you the opportunity to network with fellow participants and learn from experts who can help you get your career off on the right track. You are responsible for transportation to and from these panels.
Weekend Screenings: The Academy hosts member screenings each weekend of the summer—and we’re extending the invitation to Gold interns. These screenings are not mandatory, but you won’t want to miss them. Many are followed by Q&As with the filmmakers. Each Gold intern may bring one guest to these screenings. See Membership Screening guidelines for more information.
Closing Ceremony: Join us on the morning of August 11 for a ceremony and celebration at the Academy. Then, once the summer comes to an end, you will become a proud member of the Academy Foundation and Education programs alumni family, along with our Nicholl fellows and Student Academy Award winners. We will provide you with more information on how to stay connected to the Academy’s programs.
Life After Gold: As you head back to school, the Academy will keep you up-to-date on alumni mentorship opportunities and other useful resources to help you begin a career in film.
Security ID Photo Specifications: To create your Gold ID badge, we ask that you send a current photo using the outlined specifications, no later than June 9. This ID will allow you to access all your Gold program events, tours and screenings.
You are the future of film. The future is now.
