Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC

Established in 2002, the Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC represents a collaboration between the Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Studios to establish standards for digital cinema. Received by the Archive in 2004, the collection contains film and digital elements from DCI’s Standard Evaluation Material (StEM), a 12-minute production shot on 35mm and 65mm film, created for vendors and standards organizations to test and evaluate image compression and digital projection technologies.
