Scientific and Technical Awards host Rachel McAdams

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented its annual Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards on February 18, in Beverly Hills, California. Actress Rachel McAdams hosted the black-tie presentation dinner.
In addition to eleven Technical Achievement Awards (certificates) and six Scientific and Engineering Awards (plaques), Gary Demos received the Gordon E. Sawyer Award (an Oscar® statuette) and Don Hall received the John A.Bonner Medal of Commendation.
Portions of the Oscar presentations were taped for inclusion in the February 27 Academy Awards broadcast.
Scientific and Technical Awards are presented by the Academy for devices, methods, formulas, discoveries or inventions of special and outstanding value to the arts and sciences of motion pictures.
Academy Awards® for outstanding film achievements of 2005 will be presented on Sunday, March 5, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST.
