Scientific and Technical Awards presenter, Salma Hayek.

Salma Hayek presented the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards on March 4, 2000, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Portions of the Scientific and Technical Awards were taped for inclusion in the 72nd Academy Awards broadcast, including the presentation of an Oscar statuette to Dr. Roderick T. Ryan, recipient of the Academy's Gordon E. Sawyer Award. Also presented at the dinner were two John A. Bonner Medals of Commendation, a special Academy Commendation and 12 other awards for scientific and technical achievement.

Hayek also appeared on the Oscar telecast to introduce the segment. It was her second appearance on the show.
