Academy Dusts Off Dancing Shoes for
“Saturday Night Fever”

Beverly Hills, CA —John Travolta will be on hand for the Academy of motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 30th anniversary screening of “Saturday Night Fever” on Tuesday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Travolta will participate in an onstage discussion following the screening of the film that helped immortalize the disco revolution.

Based on Nik Cohn’s article “Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night,” the film tells the story of a young Italian-American paint store worker from Brooklyn whose only chance to break free from the constraints of his family and neighborhood seems to be a local dance competition. “Saturday Night Fever” thrust Travolta, then known mostly for his work in television (“Welcome Back, Kotter”), and his iconic white suit into the spotlight, and earned him his first Academy Award® nomination. With its provocative themes and a soundtrack featuring music performed by the Bee Gees, Kool and the Gang, the Trammps, and K.C. and the Sunshine Band, the film captures the rhythms and sensibilities of an entire era.

Tickets to the 30th anniversary screening of “Saturday Night Fever” are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members. Tickets may be purchased online beginning November 1st at www.oscars.org until noon PT on the day of the event, if still available. There are no minimum order requirements and no transaction or processing fees. Tickets may also be purchased by mail or in person at the Academy box office during regular business hours.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. All seating is unreserved. The Samuel Goldwyn Theater is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. For additional information, call (310) 247-3600.
