Garrett Smith Joins AMPAS
Science and Technology Council


Beverly Hills, CA — Garrett Smith, vice president of digital mastering operations for Paramount Pictures, has been appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Science and Technology Council, bringing the group's membership to 24.

The Council is co-chaired by Bill Taylor and Ray Feeney and Academy Governor Donald C. Rogers.

The Council's other 20 members are governors Richard Edlund and Jonathan Erland, Peter W. Anderson, Clay M. Davis, Jr., Phillip J. Feiner, Richard B. Glickman, David W. Gray, Douglas Greenfield, Richard Hollander, Rob Hummel, Brad Hunt, David Inglish, George Joblove, Bill Kroyer, Tad Marburg, Takuo Miyagishima, Daryn Okada, Richard Patterson, Richard J. Stumpf and Barry S. Weiss.

Established in 2003 by the Academy's Board of Governors, the Science and Technology Council provides a forum for the exchange of information while promoting cooperation among diverse technological interests within the industry as well as sponsoring publications, fostering educational activities and preserving the history of science and technology of motion pictures.
