December 15, 2004 Part Two of Academy / UCLA Documentary Series to begin in JanuaryBeverly Hills , CA - Ten short and feature-length documentaries, including the Oscar®-winning "Chernobyl Heart" and four other nominees, will be screened in Part Two of the 2004-2005 Contemporary Documentary Series, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Foundation and the UCLA Film and Television Archive. Part Two of the series kicks off Wednesday, January 12, at 7:30 p.m. , at the James Bridges Theater on the UCLA campus. All screenings in the series are free, and filmmakers will be present whenever possible. Following is the complete schedule for Part Two: January 12"Terminal Bar" (directed by Stefan Nadelman) "My Architect: A Son's Journey" (directed by Nathaniel Kahn, produced by Susan Rose Behr and Nathaniel Kahn) January 26"Chernobyl Heart" (directed and produced by Maryann DeLeo) "Inheritance: A Fisherman's Story" (directed and produced by Peter Hegedus) February 9"Asylum" (directed by Sandy McLeod, produced by Gini Reticker) "Lost Boys of Sudan" (directed and produced by Megan Mylan and Jon Shenk) February 23"I Used to Be a Filmmaker" (directed and produced by Jay Rosenblatt) "Capturing the Friedmans" (directed by Andrew Jarecki, produced by Marc Smerling and Andrew Jarecki) March 9"Ferry Tales" (directed and produced by Katja Esson) "Bus 174" (directed by Jose Bastos Padilha Neto, produced by Marcos Prado) The series begins with two filmmakers' explorations related to the lives of their fathers. In "Terminal Bar," Stefan Nadelman reveals the evolution of personalities in a Times Square bar, based on a decade-long series of black-and-white photographs taken by his father, the bartender. "My Architect: A Son's Journey" unveils the personal life of Louis I. Kahn, one of the most highly regarded and influential modern architects of the 20 th Century, through his son's five-year quest to understand the father he barely knew. All screenings are free and open to the public. They will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the James Bridges Theater, in Westwood, on the northeast corner of the UCLA campus, near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hilgard Avenue .
