Entry Deadline is October 1 for Short Film and Foreign Language Oscar® Categories

Beverly Hills, CA — Friday, October 1, is the deadline for makers of eligible live-action and animated short films, as well as for countries submitting films in the Foreign Language Film Award category, to submit their entry forms and supporting materials to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 77th Academy Awards® consideration.

Entries in the Short Films categories must submit the entry form, film synopsis, cast and credits list, stills, film print and proof of qualifying exhibition or festival win by Friday, October 1. Films that reach the branch screening round of voting will need to supply a second film print to the Academy by Wednesday, January 5, 2005.

In the Foreign Language Film category, additional documentation, including a synopsis of the film in English, a biography and photograph of the director and a copy of public notification of exhibition, such as an advertisement, is due by October 1. Film prints must be received by the Academy no later than Friday, October 15.

Screenings of submitted films in the Foreign Language Film category are scheduled to begin on October 29 while the Live-Action and Animated Short Film screenings will start in November.

The 77th Academy Award® nominations will be announced at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday, January 25, 2005.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST, beginning with a half-hour arrival segment.
