Issues Early Call for Oscar® Bleacher Fans
Random Drawing to be Conducted
Online Only
Beverly Hills, CA — Fans of Oscar once again will have the opportunity
to enter a random drawing for bleacher seats to watch the red carpet arrivals
at the 77th Academy Awards®. This year’s application process will be
conducted online only, over a period of seven days. Registration begins today,
Monday, September 20, at noon PST and will close on Monday, September 27, at
noon PST.
Fans interested in tickets for the 300 bleacher seats outside the Kodak
Theatre should log on to www.oscars.org/bleachers and click on Red Carpet
Bleacher Seats for the online application form. In order to be eligible,
an individual must complete the form in its entirety. Applications may
only be submitted online. Forms may not be returned via U.S. mail, fax
or private delivery service such as UPS or FEDEX.
Online bleacher application forms can register one person or groups
of up to four, but only one form will be accepted per person or group.
Multiple entries will be discarded.
Applicants successful in the random drawing will be notified after Friday,
October 1. Those who have been selected in this first phase of the process
will be required to submit additional information for security purposes
prior to final approval. Eligible attendees will be notified of their
approval by December 1. Once approved, participants will receive a confirmation
letter with seat number, general guidelines and instructions on when
and where to arrive for admittance to the bleachers.
No one will be admitted without the official Academy confirmation letter.
Those attempting to wait outside overnight for admittance will not be
permitted to do so.
This marks the third year that applications will be required for bleacher
seats. The process was instituted for the 74th Academy Awards and although
it continued for the 75th Oscars®, the 11th-hour cancellation of
the red carpet meant that no fans were seated. As a result, those same
fans were invited back to view the red carpet arrivals for the 76th Academy
Awards.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented
on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and
televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST, beginning
with a half-hour arrival segment.
