August 25, 2004 September 1 is Oscar® Entry Deadline for Documentary FilmsBeverly Hills, CA — Documentary filmmakers who have either short subject or feature-length films eligible for 77th Academy Awards® consideration must submit their entry forms and supporting materials to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by Wednesday, September 1. The supporting documentation that must accompany each entry includes a synopsis of the film in English, a 12-month theatrical exhibition plan, film credits, filmographies of the director(s)/producer, scene stills, 20 VHS cassette tapes or 20 DVD-Rs of the film and proof of qualifying exhibition. Videotapes or DVD-Rs will be distributed to screening committees comprised of Academy member documentary filmmakers who will determine the nominees. The 77th Academy Award® nominations will be announced at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday, January 25, 2005. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST, beginning with a half-hour arrival segment.
