December 9, 2003 Sid Ganis and Cheryl Boone Isaacs to Co-Chair 2004 Governors Ball
Beverly Hills, CA - Academy First Vice President Sid Ganis and Academy Vice President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, both of whom represent the Public Relations Branch on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Board of Governors, will co-chair the Governors Ball for the 76th Academy Awards®. The two will oversee planning for the post-Oscars® dinner held for winners, nominees, presenters and telecast participants. For Ganis, this marks the seventh time as chair of the Ball and the first for Boone Isaacs. Ganis previously served as chair from 1996 through 2001 and as vice chair for the last two years, while Boone Isaacs was vice chair of the Ball for the first time last year. "We are preparing for a great night and an elegant party," said Ganis. "Our goal is that our honored guests unwind, relax and enjoy themselves." "Oscar weekend is Hollywood's own holiday and this year the glitz will be back," said Boone Isaacs. "As the culminating event of a week of Awards festivities we'll make sure the Governors Ball makes it a night to remember." Ganis has produced numerous films, including "Mr. Deeds," "Big Daddy" and "Deuce Bigalow," for his company Out of the Blue...Entertainment. Prior to establishing Out of the Blue...Entertainment, which is housed on the Sony lot, Ganis served in various capacities at Sony, concluding as president of worldwide marketing for the Columbia/Tri-Star Motion Picture Companies. Boone Isaacs spent two years as the president of theatrical marketing at New Line Cinema. Previously she worked at Paramount Pictures for 12 years and ended her stint there as executive vice president of worldwide publicity. The Governors Ball will be held in the Governors Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland® complex immediately following the 76th Academy Awards presentation on Sunday, February 29. The ceremony, which will honor outstanding film achievements of 2003, will be televised live from the Kodak Theatre by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST, beginning with a half-hour arrival segment.
