Academy/UCLA Documentary Series Resumes

Beverly Hills, CA - Part Two of the 22nd Annual Contemporary Documentary Series will begin on January 7, 2004, at 7:30 p.m., at the James Bridges Theater at UCLA. The series is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Foundation and the UCLA Film and Television Archive. All screenings in the series are free and open to the public. Part Two will include an Academy Award-winning film, as well as three other nominees.

Following is the complete schedule for Part Two:

January 7
"Smashed" (directed and produced by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon).
"Bowling for Columbine" (directed by Michael Moore; produced by Michael Donovan, Moore) Academy Award winner.

January 21
"Lost in La Mancha" (directed by Keith Fulton, Louis Pepe).
"The Kid Stays in the Picture" (directed by Brett Morgen, produced by Graydon Carter, Morgen).

February 4
"Mighty Times: The Legacy of Rosa Parks" (directed by Bobby Houston; produced by Robert Hudson) Academy Award Nominee.
"Two Towns of Jasper" (directed and produced by Whitney Dow and Marco Williams).

February 18
"Why Can't We Be a Family Again?" (directed and produced by Roger Weisberg, Murray Nossel) Academy Award Nominee.
"Stevie" (directed and produced by Steve James).

March 3
"Last Dance" (directed by Mirra Bank, produced by Vic Losick , Bank).

March 17
"He's Having a Baby" (directed by Georg Hartmann; produced by Abby Hartmann).
"Daughter from Danang" (directed by Gail Dolgin, Vicente Franco; produced by Dolgin) Academy Award Nominee.

All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. and will take place in the James Bridges Theater on the UCLA campus. Filmmakers will be present whenever possible to discuss their films and take questions from the audience.

The James Bridges Theater is located in Westwood on the northeast corner of the UCLA campus, near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hilgard Avenue. Parking is available for $7 in Lot 3, adjacent to the theater. For more information, call (310) 247-3600 or (310) 206-FILM.
