December 3, 2003 Roy Christopher to Design the 76th Oscar® Telecast
Beverly Hills, CA - 76th Oscar Telecast Producer Joe Roth announced today that Roy Christopher will return for his 15th assignment as production designer of an Academy Awards® Presentation. "Roy's Oscar sets have been unforgettable and integral to the wow factor one feels while watching the show," said Roth. "I couldn't go wrong by asking Roy to join the 76th Awards team." Christopher has received a total of 32 Emmy nominations. Fourteen of those nominations were for his work on the Oscar telecast. He has won a total of seven Emmys, for which six have been for his work on Oscar sets. "The creative challenge of designing the Oscars never diminishes and I am honored to be asked to participate again," said Christopher, whose current projects include two top, long-running comedy series, NBC's "Frasier" and CBS's "Becker." In February 2004, Christopher will be honored by his peers with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Art Directors Guild. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2003 will be presented on Sunday, February 29, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST, beginning with a half-hour arrival segment.
