Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "A Beautiful Mind"

Beverly Hills, CA — "A Beautiful Mind," the 2001 drama that told the story of real life mathematical genius John Forbes Nash, will screen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 1, at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater. "A Beautiful Mind" is the penultimate film to be featured in the Academy's 75th anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners."

Attending filmmakers associated with "A Beautiful Mind" will participate in a panel discussion following the screening of the film. Audience members also will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists during this time.

Preceding the screening will be footage from the 74th Academy Awards® telecast, which was the first ceremony to include the Best Animated Feature category – the Oscar® for which went to "Shrek." The Oscar-winning Animated Short Film of 2001, "For the Birds," also will be shown during the evening, as will the original trailer for "Chicago," the last film in the screening series. The Best Song of 2001, “If I Didn't Have You” from the film "Monsters, Inc.," will serve as the program's curtain music.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
