Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Gladiator"

 

Russell Crowe starred as the title character Maximus in the Academy Award-winning film "Gladiator." Connie Nielsen co-starred in the drama which won the Oscar for Best Picture of 2000.

Beverly Hills, CA — "Gladiator" will do battle on the big screen again on Monday, November 24, at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The film will screen at 7:30 p.m. as the 75th anniversary series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners," continues.

Preceding the screening will be footage from the 73rd Academy Awards ® telecast, featuring a taped greeting from astronauts aboard the International Space Station who introduced host Steve Martin. The Oscar®-winning Animated Short Film, "Father and Daughter," also will be shown during the evening, as will the original trailer for "A Beautiful Mind," the next film in the screening series. The program's curtain music will be provided by the Best Song of 2000, “Things Have Changed” from the film "Wonder Boys."

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
