Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Braveheart"

 

Mel Gibson starred as Scottish rebel William Wallace in the 1995 Academy Award®-winning drama "Braveheart."

Beverly Hills, CA — The Best Picture-winning film "Braveheart" battles to the big screen of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Monday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. when the film screens as part of the 75th anniversary series "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners."

Footage from the 68th Academy Awards® telecast will precede the screening, as will the Oscar®-winning Animated Short Subject of 1995, "A Close Shave." The original trailer for “The English Patient,” the next film in the screening series, also will be featured during the program. The Best Song of 1995, “Colors of the Wind” from the film "Pocahontas," will provide the evening’s curtain music.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
