Entry Deadline is October 1 for Short Film and Foreign Language Oscar® categories

Beverly Hills, CA - Wednesday, October 1, is the deadline for makers of eligible live-action and animated short films, as well as countries submitting films in the Foreign Language Film Award category, to submit their entry forms and supporting materials to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 76th Academy Awards® consideration.

Entries in the Short Films categories must submit the entry form, film synopsis, cast and credits list, stills, film print and proof of qualifying exhibition or festival win by Wednesday, October 1. Films that reach the branch screening round of voting will need to supply a second film print to the Academy by Monday, January 5, 2004.

In the Foreign Language Film category, additional required documentation, including a synopsis of the film in English, a biography and photograph of the director and a copy of public notification of exhibition, such as an advertisement, is due by October 1. Film prints must be received by the Academy no later than Wednesday, October 15.

Screenings of submitted films in the Foreign Language Film category will begin on October 31 while the Live-Action and Animated Short Film screenings will start in November.

The 76th Academy Award nominations will be announced at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday, January 27, 2004.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2003 will be presented on Sunday, February 29, 2004, from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland® and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST. A half-hour arrival segment will precede the presentation ceremony at 5 p.m.
