Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "The Silence of the Lambs"

The 1991 thriller "The Silence of the Lambs" starred Anthony Hopkins as killer Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter and Jodie Foster as FBI agent Clarice Starling.

Beverly Hills, CA - The feast of Oscar®-winning Best Pictures continues on Monday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 75th anniversary screening series "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners" serves up the 1991 film "The Silence of the Lambs" in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The evening's program will include footage from the 64th Academy Awards® telecast, during which "The Silence of the Lambs" became the third film in Oscar history to win awards in the Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Director and Screenplay categories. This feat has only been accomplished two other times: in 1934 by "It Happened One Night" and in 1975 by "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest."

"Manipulation," the Oscar-winning Animated Short Film of 1991, also will be featured during the program, as will the original trailer for "Unforgiven," the next film in the screening series. The Best Song of 1991, "Beauty and the Beast" from the film of the same name, will serve as the evening's curtain music.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. For more information, call 310-247-3000, ext. 111.
