August 26, 2003 Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Rain Man"
Beverly Hills, CA - At the 61st Academy Awards® "Rain Man" counted four Oscar® wins and on Tuesday, September 2, the film will score a return to the big screen as the next installment in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 75th anniversary series "Facets of the Diamond." The 1988 Best Picture winner will screen at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Footage of the 61st Academy Awards telecast, featuring the last public appearance of Lucille Ball, who died less than a month later, will precede the screening. "Tin Toy," the Oscar-winning Animated Short Subject of 1988 also will be shown during the program as will the original trailer for "Driving Miss Daisy," the next film in the series. The Best Song of 1988, "Let the River Run" from the film "Working Girl," will provide the evening's curtain music. Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D.
