August 18, 2003 Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "The Last Emperor"
Beverly Hills, CA - "The Last Emperor" will rule the silver screen at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for one night, Monday, August 25. The 1987 Oscar®-winning drama will screen at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater as the next entry in the 75th anniversary series, "Facets of the Diamond." Footage of the 60th Academy Awards® telecast will precede the screening, as will "The Man Who Planted Trees," the Oscar-winning Animated Short Subject of 1987. The original trailer for "Rain Man," the next film in the series, also will be featured during the program. The song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from the film "Dirty Dancing" was named the Best Song of 1987 and will provide the evening's curtain music. Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
