Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "The Godfather"

Beverly Hills, CA - Audiences can relive the epic story of the Corleone family on Monday, May 12, when "The Godfather" screens at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater as part of the 75th anniversary screening series "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture
Winners."

 

Marlon Brando won the Best Actor Academy Award® for his performance as Don Vito Corleone in "The Godfather."

Footage from the 45th Academy Awards® telecast will precede "The Godfather," which will be screened using an original IB Tech print. A new print of "A Christmas Carol," the Oscar®-winning Cartoon Short Subject of 1972, also will be shown during the program. The original trailer for "The Sting," the next film in the screening series, will be featured. The Best Song of 1972, "The Morning After" from the film "The Poseidon Adventure," will serve as the evening's curtain music.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
