Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Gigi"

Beverly Hills, CA - The 1958 film "Gigi" made Academy Awards^® history when it became the first film to win nine Oscars^®. The musical, which won in each of the categories for which it was nominated, will screen at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. as the 75th anniversary series "Facets of the Diamond" continues.

The evening's curtain music will be the film's eponymous theme, "Gigi," performed by Louis Jourdan, which took Best Song honors. It was the second time that a film won the Oscar^® for both Best Picture and Best Song. It also was accomplished in 1944 by "Going My Way" and in 1997 by "Titanic."

The Oscar-winning Short Subject of 1958, "Knighty Knight Bugs," will be shown prior to the screening, as will footage from the 31st Academy Awards telecast. A trailer for the next film in the series, "Ben-Hur," also will be featured during the program.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D.
