November 18, 2002 Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "The Bridge on The River Kwai"
Beverly Hills, CA - The 30th Oscar®-winning Best Picture, "The Bridge on the River Kwai," explodes on the screen Monday, November 25, as the next entry in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 75th Anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond." The new print of this film will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater, preceded by footage from the 30th Academy Awards® telecast. The Oscar-winning Cartoon Short Subject of 1957, "Birds Anonymous," will also be shown prior to the screening as will a trailer for "Gigi," the next film in the 75th Anniversary series. The evening's curtain music will be the Best Song of 1957, "All the Way," as performed by Frank Sinatra from the film "The Joker Is Wild." Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
