Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature
"On the Waterfront"

Beverly Hills, CA - "On the Waterfront," the drama which won
the Oscar® for Best Picture of 1954,
will screen on Monday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
On February 12, 1955, two months prior to the 27th Academy Awards®
presentation, the nominations announcement was made for the first time
during a live telecast. Footage from this show, which features hopeful
nominees such as Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock and Judy Garland, will
precede the screening.
"When Magoo Flew," which won the Oscar for Cartoon Short Subject
of 1954, will be shown as will the trailer for "Marty," the
next film in the 75th anniversary screening series. The program's curtain
music will be the Best Song of 1954, "Three Coins in the Fountain,"
as performed by Frank Sinatra from the film of the same name.
Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each
for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a
valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular
business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard
