Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "An American in Paris"

Beverly Hills, CA - "An American in Paris," which reached the rarified atmosphere of eight Academy Award® nominations and six Oscar® wins, will screen on Monday, October 14, at 7: 30 p.m. in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

"An American in Paris," the 24th film to win the Oscar for Best Picture, is the next film in the 75th anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners."

Color newsreel footage from the 24th Academy Awards® ceremony, held at the RKO Pantages Theater in Hollywood, will precede the screening, as will "Two Mouseketeers," which won the Oscar for Cartoon Short Subject of 1951. Also screening will be the original trailer for "The Greatest Show on Earth," the next film in the screening series. The program's curtain music will be the Best Song of 1951, "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening," as performed by Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman from the film "Here Comes the Groom."

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
