Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Gentleman's Agreement"

"Gentleman's Agreement," the 1947 drama starring Gregory Peck as a journalist who pretends to be Jewish in order to write a story on anti-Semitism, was the 20th film to win the Academy Award® for Best Picture. Beverly Hills, CA - "Gentleman's Agreement" will be featured on Tuesday, September 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater as part of the Academy's 75th anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners."

The program will include "Tweetie Pie," the Oscar®-winning Cartoon Short Subject of 1947, and "Goodbye Miss Turlock," that year's Oscar-winning Live Action Short Subject. Color footage of Hollywood circa 1947 also will precede the screening of "Gentleman's Agreement," the 20th film to win the Academy Award® for Best Picture. "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah," from the film "Song of the South," won the Oscar for Best Song of 1947 and will provide the curtain music for the evening.

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
