Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "The Lost Weekend"

"The Lost Weekend"
 

Ray Milland and Jane Wyman starred as Don Birnam and Helen St. James in the 1945 Academy Award®-winning drama "The Lost Weekend." Milland won the Lead Actor Oscar® for his role of alcoholic Don Birnam. The film also won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 18th Academy Awards®.

Beverly Hills, CA - "The Lost Weekend" can be found again on the big screen on Tuesday, September 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater. It will unspool as part of the Academy's 75th anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners."

Footage from the 18th Academy Awards® ceremony will precede the screening, as will "Quiet Please," the Oscar®-winning Cartoon Short Subject of 1945. "The House I Live In," a short film starring Frank Sinatra which received a Special Oscar that year, also will be featured during the program. The evening's curtain music will be "It Might As Well Be Spring," the Best Song of 1945 from the film "State Fair."

Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
