Bergman Re-elected President of Academy Foundation

Beverly Hills, CA - Academy Music Branch Governor Alan Bergman has been re-elected president of the Academy Foundation, the educational and cultural arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Bergman has previously served three terms as president of the Academy Foundation from 1992 through 1995, and served two terms as secretary and one as treasurer from 1989 through 1991.

Re-elected to her position as a vice president was Writers Branch Governor Fay Kanin. Music Branch Governor Arthur Hamilton, segued from treasurer to vice president, while Film Editors Branch Governor Donn Cambern took his slot as treasurer. Public Relations Branch Governor Sid Ganis was named secretary.

New Foundation trustees named by the board of governors of the Academy are Ganis and Cambern; Short Films and Feature Animation Branch Governor Jon Bloom; Directors Branch Governor Gil Cates; Public Relations Branch Governor Cheryl Boone Isaacs and Executives Branch Governor Bill Mechanic.

Trustees of the Foundation re-elected by the Academy's governors are: Bergman, Kanin and Hamilton; Dede Allen, film editors; Charles Bernstein, music; Conrad Hall, cinematographers; Mark Johnson, producers; Roger L. Mayer and Robert Rehme, executives; Frank R. Pierson, writers and Donald C. Rogers, sound.

Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis remains executive secretary of the Foundation.

The Academy Foundation was established in 1942 to oversee all educational, preservation and cultural activities of the Academy. Its trustees and officers serve one-year terms.
