August 5, 2002 Academy's Diamond Anniversary Screening Series to Feature "Mrs. Miniver"
Beverly Hills, CA - The 15th Oscar®-winning Best Picture, "Mrs. Miniver," will screen on Monday, August 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater as the Academy's 75th Anniversary screening series, "Facets of the Diamond: 75 Years of Best Picture Winners," continues. The evening's program will begin with footage of the 15th Academy Awards® ceremony, followed by "Kokoda Front Line!," an Australian newsreel which received one of the four Oscars® for documentaries presented in 1942. "Der Fuehrer's Face," the Oscar-winning Cartoon Short Subject of 1942, also will be featured along with the original trailer for "Casablanca," the next film in the screening series. In addition, the Best Song of 1942, "White Christmas" from the film "Holiday Inn," will provide the curtain music. Tickets may be purchased, pending availability, at a cost of $5 each for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Academy during regular business hours or by mail. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
