June 28, 2002 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: John Pavlik - (310) 247-3000 Academy Doc Branch Gets Two More GovernorsBeverly Hills, CA - The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has voted to grant the year-old Documentary Branch a full complement of three governors. When the Documentary Branch was created in January 2001 it was represented on the Academy's board by a single governor. Freida Lee Mock was elected to that slot for a three-year term the following June. A special election will be held to nominate and elect the two new governors. The branch now has parity with the other 13 branches, each of which is represented by three governors who are elected for staggered terms, so that each branch elects or re-elects one governor each year. After election of the two new Documentary Branch governors, the board will sit with 42 members. ###
