August 14, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: John Pavlik - (310) 247-3000 74th Academy Awards® Rules Distributed to AMPAS VotersBeverly Hills, CA - The 74th Annual Academy Awards rules are being mailed this week to the approximately 5,750 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The rules for 2001 set deadlines for submitting entries in certain categories:
In other categories, the deadline for submission of Official Screen Credits forms to the Academy is 60 days after the qualifying Los Angeles release opening, or December 1, whichever comes first. This form must be filed in order for a feature film to be considered for the 74th Annual Academy Awards. Rules are reviewed annually by branch and category committees. The Awards Rules Committee then reviews all proposed changes before presenting its recommendations to the Academy's Board of Governors. Academy Award nominations will be announced at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at the Academy. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2001 will be presented on March 24, 2002, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & HighlandTM. Sunday at the Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour arrivals segment preceding the 5:30 p.m. presentation ceremony.
