Alan Bergman Elected Academy Foundation President

Beverly Hills, CA - Academy music branch governor Alan Bergman has been elected president of the Academy Foundation, the educational and cultural arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Bergman previously served three terms as president of the Academy Foundation from 1992 through 1995, and served two terms as secretary and one as treasurer from 1989 through 1991.

Re-elected to their positions were writers branch governor Fay Kanin and public relations branch governor Marvin Levy, vice presidents; music branch governor Arthur Hamilton, treasurer and sound branch governor Don Hall, secretary.

New Foundation trustees elected by the board of governors of the Academy are film editors branch governor Dede Allen, music branch governor Charles Bernstein and producers branch governor Mark Johnson.

Trustees of the Foundation re-elected by the Academy's governors are: Bergman, Hall, Kanin, Levy and Hamilton; John Frankenheimer, directors; Samuel Goldwyn Jr., producers; Conrad Hall, cinematographers; Roger L. Mayer, Robert Rehme and Lew R. Wasserman, executives; Frank R. Pierson, writers and Donald C. Rogers, sound.

Academy executive director Bruce Davis remains executive secretary of the Foundation.

The Academy Foundation was established in 1942 to oversee all educational, preservation and cultural activities of the Academy. Its governing body of 16 trustees is drawn from the Academy's 40-member board of governors. Trustees and officers of the Foundation serve one-year terms.
