August 1, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: John Pavlik - (310) 247-3000 Haberkamp Named Academy Program CoordinatorBeverly Hills, CA - Randy Haberkamp has been named Program Coordinator of Educational and Special Projects for the Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis announced today. Haberkamp will be responsible for Academy Foundation lectures and seminars, the Visiting Artists Program and various Academy Awards-related projects. Haberkamp was previously employed by CBS as Director of Specials and Feature Films, where he developed and coordinated prime-time, live-action and animated network specials and acquired theatrically-released films for network prime-time telecasts from 1992 through 1997. Since then, he has worked as a talent agent for JS Represents. In 1983, Haberkamp joined CBS, where he worked up through the Program Coordination Department to become manager before being promoted to Director of Feature Films in January of 1992. During that period, Haberkamp produced and directed a feature documentary, "Small Town, American," as well as producing "The Charlie Chaplin Centennial Celebration" in 1989 and three Cinecon film festivals, in 1990, 1991 and 1995. He also produced laserdisc and syndication versions of "My Fair Lady," "Snoopy Come Home" and the films Charlie Chaplin made for Mutual Film Corp. Haberkamp is the founder of The Silent Society, a group devoted to screening silent films in the Hollywood Heritage Museum and preserving rare silents through the UCLA Film Archive. Haberkamp has a master's degree in motion picture and television production from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in communications from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. "Randy's knowledge of film history and his practical experience with programming and Hollywood production give him a terrific background for this job," Davis said. "We look forward to an exciting slate of interesting new events." On Haberkamp's immediate agenda is a sold-out four-Wednesday seminar series on screenwriting which got underway this week in the Academy's Little Theater. ###
